We stayed at La Quinta Golf Package starts at just before Christmas and go before the new year. For Christmas, the resort is huge - uncrowded, California feels great age, and has a swimming pool and hot tub steps from our door is excellent. We had two interconnecting rooms in most of the front of the resort. The room was good - not super luxurious, but very nice, beds are good and have enough space. That's what I expected, and enjoyed the many fruit trees and within walking distance to the main area with restaurants and shops.

Golf package is excellent. All four of us to play every day (six in a row), and is valuable if you play lots of golf. We especially like the Mountain Course and the Greg Norman course, but the challenge can not be beat TPC Stadium. We also pay school Nicklaus and enjoyed drinks and appetizers in the evening on the patio with fire pits overlooking the 18th hole. PGA West complex for the store is something to watch all in itself. Unfortunately, it took a turn for the worse the day after Christmas. A lot of people checking into a hotel, as you want, including many families who brought their razor scooters.
I guess this is Southern California folks, as I do, they put the bike on the plane. Anyway, have now started at the end thump, thump, thump right outside our door as these kids went up and down, beating the wheels of each joint venture to expand in the concrete walkway. The rooms at La Quinta does not particularly sound - old doors and windows, so after five or six hours, we've had enough.

At 21:45, I opened the door as they went under the back and the man then just step out of the room two doors down from us. I asked if they were his children, and he said yes, so I asked if maybe they could call it a night scootering, as it was nearly 10 pm and we wanted to sleep. He said this is a family resort and scootering are allowed, and he worked for JP Morgan, as "owner" hotel, and he will have his children if they want the car overnight. I was shocked at the vulgar, and after more unprintable turns short, I slammed the door.
The next morning, I asked the checker if it is the policy of scootering. Clerk apologized for the previous night (not my fault he was a complete jerk, of course) and say there is no policy, but if it's after 10, I should call security they will take care of it. Well, family is one thing, but allows for positive behavior is annoying, and the nature of help to enjoy another's property.
The scooter according to the following categories, and they should be banned. Also, I would say avoid this resort at this time in school, at other times, it is interesting.

There are many dogs there, as others have commented. We're like dogs, and I have not found it is a problem, except for those who allow their dogs to swim in the pool, (and one woman had her in a hot tub!) I do not think it should be allowed.
The main restaurant for breakfast and lunch with good food, but not big enough as filler, as it was after Christmas. Have to wait for breakfast, and one morning they ran out of orange juice (and this is at 8 am on the property full of orange trees!). Morgans, a fancy restaurant, a lovely room, but the food was just OK and the menu is quite limited. For the price, you can do better elsewhere. Our favorite area was Arnold Palmer's Restaurant - great service and food, and the old atmosphere of quiet time with the big record, if you are a golf fan.
